Welcome to the AFSCME Public Safety Protection Program (PSPP).
The PSPP was designed by AFSCME Advantage in coordination with American Union Provider
Services to provide a new and unique benefit created specifically for our AFSCME public safety members -- giving you on-the-job protection and added peace-of-mind!

The PSPP benefit package includes:
- Access to legal representation for on-the-job civil and criminal action. This representation is administered through the Peace Officers Research Association of California (PORAC)
Legal Defense Fund. PORAC is the largest and most successful legal defense fund in the country and is managed by public safety officers for public safety officers.
- In addition, should a member ever become injured on the job and be denied reasonably necessary treatment of any kind by workers compensation, members of the PSOAA are provided legal representation by the national law firm of Jacoby & Meyers, who will fight the denial at no cost to the members.
In order to access the PSPP, public safety protection officers must join the Public Safety Officers of AFSCME Association (PSOAA).
Enrollment in PSOAA is free and exclusive to public safety members of AFSCME. The
online application takes only minutes to complete.
A low semi-annual or annual premium is required to participate in the Public Safety Protection Program.
To receive the benefits of the AFSCME Public Safety Protection Program, you must:
- Enroll in the Public Safety Officers of AFSCME Association (PSOAA).
- Pay the first premium payment. (Note: You will be eligible for benefits when more than fifty (50%) of your local’s members have enrolled in PSOAA
and all member premium payments received). .
